Canvas Parent accounts only need to be activated prior to the first login. Once the account has been activated, please refer to information on this page about accessing Canvas via the web or the Canvas Parent App.

By default, you will receive Canvas notifications for the courses you are observing. Canvas includes a set of default notification settings, however; you are able to change these. Your notification settings only apply to you as the observer, these do not affect course notifications that are sent to the student you are currently observing. 

We strongly recommend you to change the notification settings to receive daily or weekly summaries so you are not overwhelmed by receiving multiple emails every day. 

To change your settings, click on the Account tab in the left hand menu and select Notifications. Step-by-step instructions are available here.
